The Effect of Dynamic Loading on Bacterial Colonization of the Dental Implant Fixture-Abutment Interface: An In-vitro Case
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of dynamic loading on the colonization of oral micro-organisms in the fixture-abutment interface (FAI) microgap of dental implants. 40 implants were subjected either to dynamic loading conditions or to non-loading conditions and allowed to incubate in a bacterial solution of E.Coli. Following disconnection of fixtures and abutments, microbial samples were taken from the threaded portion of the abutment, plated and cultured under appropriate conditions.
